Echo Series Faces Major Setback, Fans Left Disheartened

Those anticipating the next installment in Marvel’s Echo series will have to wait until next year. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the premiere date has been pushed back from November to January of 2024. As a result, only two more Marvel-related Disney+ series will premiere before the end of the year.

The October 6 release date for Loki Season 2 remains firm, but What If…? Season 2 is still expected to premiere somewhere around the holiday season, despite being delayed from its initial release date of early 2023.

The premiere of Marvel’s new series Echo has been pushed back to January 2024, two months later than originally announced.

The film Echo will focus on Alaqua Cox’s character, who made her debut in Hawkeye as a sort of adopted daughter of Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio), aka Kingpin.

The former boss of a criminal group will return to her hometown in Oklahoma to make peace with her past after escaping from Kingpin in the last show. D’Onofrio’s Kingpin and Charlie Cox’s Daredevil will also be included in the show.

Fans are disappointed despite the fact that the release date for Marvel’s Echo is only been pushed back by two months. After much anticipation, the MCU finally introduced Alaqua Cox’s persona and brought back both Kingpin and Daredevil. It was planned to drop all of the episodes of the show all at once.

The primary promotion is for Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, formerly known as Agatha: Coven of Chaos and Agatha: House of Harkness. It has been delayed from its original release window of the winter of 2023 to the fall of 2024.

The two beloved heroes were featured in Netflix’s Marvel series, which are no longer integral to the main Marvel Cinematic Universe story.

Marvel’s Echo wasn’t the only TV show to have its premiere date moved back; X-Men ’97 and Agatha: Darkhold Diaries both had theirs rescheduled. X-Men ’97 is a continuation/reboot of the Fox animated X-Men series from the 1990s. Originally scheduled for release in the fall of 2023, the first season of the show has been pushed back to early 2024.

Fans of the WandaVision villain, whose spin-off has been delayed for over a year, have nothing on those disappointed by the two-month postponement of Marvel’s Echo. It appears more of a scheduling decision on Marvel’s part, as filming for the Agatha Harkness series was completed before the strikes began.

Marvel’s Echo and the other Disney+ shows reportedly had their premiere dates pushed back due to the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes and a general retreat of Disney+ content. To avoid market saturation, Disney is stagger-releasing its Marvel films in order to make each one feel more like a special occasion.

The strategy makes logical, but it could have won over more viewers if it had been applied to future projects rather than the ones that had already been announced.

At any rate, Marvel’s Echo seems to be slated for a January release. The most recent Marvel series, Secret Invasion, is currently available in its entirety via streaming services. In October, Season 2 of Loki will be available to view.
